Ashley's career began at the age of three, when she was discovered by her manager, Bill Perlman, at a local mall. Ashley has appeared in more than 100 national commercials. She debuted on Broadway at the age of eight after landing the leading role in the musical "Les Miserables". She then appeared in "Annie" and toured internationally with the musical.

Ashley has appeared on several television series. She has had regular roles on "Nathan's Choice" and "The Howie Mandel Pilot". She landed recurring roles on "George Lopez", "The Hughleys", and "Still Standing". She had minor guest star roles on "7th Heaven", "Grounded for Life", "Boston Public", and "Strong Medicine".

Ashley is famously known for her appearance on the Disney Channel Original Movie "High School Musical", in which she played the role of the antagonist, Sharpay Evans.

Ashley's career also incldues singing at the White House at the age of twelve. She has been in films such as "Donnie Darko" as well. Ashley is currently playing the role of Maddie Fitzpatrick on "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody".
