The rumors have been flying and many people are asking: are HighSchool Musical stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens together or not? Reports are flying that Zac dumped one co-star for another and has fallen for Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky. Star Magazine has printed pictures of the Hairspray sweethearts cuddling and kissing. Efron was even quoted as saying that Blonsky is "breathtakingly beautiful on the outside but twice as gorgeous on the inside."

Efron and Hudgens were seen together back in June holding hands at the MTV Movie Awards but a few weeks later, announced that they had split. Rumors has started that he hooked up with Blonsky soon after and the two were inseparable for weeks. Yet, just this past Friday, "Zanessa" was back on again, out shopping together in Soho, New York City. Could the romance be creeping back or is this just two friends out for a day on the town?

But wait! There's more! According to Life and Style Magazine, while filming Hairspray, Efron wrote a love song for Hudgens. He recently surprised her with the song complete with candlelight, bringing her to tears. A source from the magazine said, "Zac and Vanessa really are like the prom king and queen. Everyone's rooting for them because they're both sweethearts."

So is it Nikki or Vanessa that has captured Zac's heart? Vanessa and Zac have the history, having been friends and more since filming began on the first High School Musical in 2005. Nikki may just be Zac's breath of fresh air. She was plucked out of her everyday life to come star in the big screen adaptation of Hairspray after attending a national casting call. Everyone loves a good showmance and no matter which girl Zac is choosing to spend his days (and nights) with, he's definitely one lucky guy!

Hairspray opened on July 20 and has done well at the box office. Efron plays Link Larkin, a tv heartthrob who can sing and dance and captures the heart of Tracy Turnblad (Nikki Blonsky). High School Musical 2 guarantees to top the first and has premieres on the Disney channel Friday, August 17.
